Back page of the booklet and back of CD

This is the inside of my CD booklet. It shows a photograph of my band in a black and white photo. I also used a grainy effect over the top to give the effect of an ages photograph. The bands main influences are bands from the 70's and 80's and thats who they aspire too, so i tried to make the photo look as if it was fron this period in time.

I chose to use a photo of the band looking away from the camera as it makes them look as though they are acting naturally and therefor are playing their instruments naturally, presenting the idea that they are good musicians. I desaturated the image as i believe that black and white colouring makes you focus on the image rather then the colour.

I wasnt sure what font to use for the single name. It was a choice between the following two:

I decided to go with the first font. This is because it is bolder and more eye catchng which is what you need.

The photo that i have used of the band

The photo that i have used for the main cover is one that i took of the band together. They are all posing with their instruments and i think that on the front cover of a CD this will show that they are passionate about their music
I have decided to desaturate the photograph. I believe that black and white photos make you focus more on the picture rather then on the colour

I started off designing my CD cover by thinking about the logo. The band already had a logo that they suggested to me and i thought that it fit well. With a few tweeks and a some production work i came to a final.

I decided to go with the plain logo in the end as it will be easier to blend in with the photograph that i will be using

Editting session

Once all of the film had been logged and captured i found it alot easier to start visualising how the video was going to finally look.
As i am fairly restricted for time due to work commitments i decided to use one of my free days and get the whole video editted in one go. This was one of my first times using Final Cut Pro and i was only aware of the basic skills that were needed. Working alone on this project made me push myself and quickly learn all of the basic skills to create an effective music video.

Problems

Due to different commitments of our group members and clashing timetables it meant that the whole of our group wasnt able to film at one time. We found that this put stress on us all especially when the band wouldnt co operate. We decided that we was going to go our seperate ways with me carrying on with the 'Fools Paradise' project and the other band members persuing other projects.

Editting

On the 18th of November 2010 we started our first editting session. After looking through the tapes and log and capturing the bits that we needed. We are using Final Cut Pro to edit and this is a programme that is new to us all.

Evaluating the Narrative Fimling

Overall the shoot went really well. Even though the two actors had never met before they both worked extreamly well and we produced some good footage.
Once we got back to college and had a change to look through all of the footage that we had recorded we realised that one of the tapes had been corrupted. This meant that certain parts would have to be filmed again.

Extras

For our Narrative section we were going to use the lead singer of the band (Sam) and his girlfriend as the actors. After we started planning we realised that it is going to be hard for Sam to do both parts and it was unlikely that both him and his girlfriend would be available as they both had school/work commitments.

I then enlisted the help of two of my friends, Billy Holcombe and Rose Worly who both agreed to be actors in our narrative.

Narrative Location Scouting

We had to look at a few places to decide where we was going to film our narrative.
One place we looked at was trent park in Enfield. We thought that this would be a good choice as it was only a bus ride away from college so was easily accessible for both the group and the band and there is many different settings in the park.

We then looked at Hampstead heath and decided that it would be a better option as it is a much widely recognised place

We had to take in to consideration all of the hazards and dangers that may occur when filming our narrative in Hampstead Heath

-Possibility of wet weather > Take big umbrellas to cover cameras. If rain persists stop shooting
-Uneven ground > Make sure to shoot on even ground or if not possible make sure cameras are held steady so they do not fall over
-Animals > Ask owners to keep animals away
-May anger people as we are filming in a public place > Try and keep away from the areas that are busy, but if this isnt possible then ask permission before shooting near people
-Chance of equiptment being stolen > Be extra viggilant at all times and dont leave any equipment unattended

Risk Assessment for Beech

Before we filmed in beech we had to consider what dangers/hazards could occur. This is what we decided on..

-Loose wires > Tape all of the wires to the floor
-Spillage of food or drink on floor/surfaces or on electrical equipment >No food or drink allowed on set
-Camera’s may fall > Secure all camera’s safely
- Lights may fall > Keep area clear

If any incidents were to occur we would contact a member of staff imediatly

Filming the performance

The performance part of our music video was to be set in Beech, in Stanmore college. Unfortunatly only two members of our group were able to attend the filming session. The filming session went well and new skills were learnt such as how to use the lights properly.
